Michael G. Ruemelin
April 2, 1954 - October 1, 2010
Michael G. Ruemelin, 56, of McHenry, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010, at home with his loving family, after a 51/2-year battle with ALS.
On April 2, 1954, he was born to Patricia and James Ruemelin and raised in McHenry. Forty-two years ago, he met the love of his life and best friend, Lynn O'Day, whom he married Feb. 9, 1974.
He was a 33-year member of Teamsters Local No. 705. He also bowled at McHenry Lanes and was on several golf leagues. He enjoyed the Harley adventures with Lynn and his best friends, Kim and Rick Cooper. He was a hard worker who enjoyed every moment of his life and made us all smile – every day.
Surviving are his loving wife of 36 years, Lynn Ruemelin of McHenry. He was the loving and wonderful father of Michael (Jodi) and Gina (Joe) Frano; the proud grandfather of Mikey Ruemelin and Joey Frano; the son-in-law of James and Jeannie, (Church) O'Day; brother of Susan (Greg) Houston and Kathy Ruemelin; friend and brother-in-law of Kevin O'Day; and uncle to James (Jennifer), Jesse, Katie (Larry) and Ethan Houston, Jennifer O'Day and Cody Ruemelin.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Ruemelin.
The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, at Colonial Funeral Home, 591 Ridgeview Drive, McHenry. The visitation will continue from 10 a.m. until the funeral at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 22, at the funeral home with the Rev. Douglas Liston officiating. Interment will be private for the family.
